123 miles northwest of San Luis City there is a nice city to spend some days before or after the eclipse, Merlo. This city will be witness of the totality and it is situated close to the central line. If you arrive to the international aiport of Mendoza (MDZ) you need to drive for about 5 hours to reach this town in the northeast corner of San Luis province.
