On July the 2nd, in 2019, the next total solar eclipse will take place. As shown on the animation and the map here, the path of totality will sweep the South Pacific Ocean and a narrow strip of central Chile and Argentina.

The greatest duration of this eclipse will occur in the middle of the ocean (Lat: 17.3794° S, Long: 108.6238° W) lasting 4m 33seconds. Unless you have enough money and time to take a cruise and go to the precise point where the eclipse will last the longest, you should travel to Argentina, or Chile, to enjoy the two and a half minutes of totality. The eclipse finishes in Buenos Aires province just south of the big city of Buenos Aires where observers will watch a totally eclipsed Sun almost setting on the west horizon.

This eclipse belongs to the Saros Series 127 and is number 58 of 82 eclipses of that family.

Always remember, NEVER OBSERVE THE SUN WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE FILTERS. Don`t make the awesome view of a solar eclipse a dramatic experience. Observe the Sun safely.
